Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Okay...these were fun! It seems like each time I log onto Pinterest, I am seeing this recipe being Pinned and Re-Pinned. Naturally, I had to give it a try. I traced the original recipe back to Taste Of Home, and I'm so glad I did! I read through all of the reviews and was able to take from it some really helpful ideas that I knew would help to make these a success. TOUCHDOWN! Not only were these incredibly easy to make, they were DELICIOUS!

The use of egg roll wrappers is pure genius! And has given me some fantastic ideas for some new dishes! I plan to have something posted before the start of next week; Maybe for my Scrumptious Sunday post. (If you follow me on Facebook you know what I'm talking about.)

I wanted to get this dish posted to my blog first, so you would know where the idea came from. I love brainstorming! And if all goes as planned, YOU will reap the benefits!
Ingredients:
12 pieces string cheese
12 egg roll wrappers
garlic powder (small amount)
Italian seasoning (small amount)
red pepper flakes (small amount)
Salt (small amount)
oil for frying
marinara for dipping
Directions:
Lay egg roll wrapper on clean surface. Sprinkle lightly with each of the dry seasonings; as much or as little as you like. Lay one piece of string cheese near the bottom corner of egg roll wrapper. Fold bottom corner over the cheese. Roll up halfway; then fold sides toward center over cheese. Moisten remaining corner with a small amount of water; roll up tightly and seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers, and cheese.
Heat a small amount of oil in fry pan; just enough to fill pan about 1 inch. Fry each stick one at a time, about 30 to 60 seconds per side, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with warm marinara.

*If making more than 12 sticks, keep the finished ones warm in oven while frying the others. Should be served while piping hot and cheese is melted inside.
Mozzarella and marinara not your thing? Try these with some pepper jack or cheddar sticks. Serve them with your favorite salsa. So good! (I'd leave out the Italian seasoning for this version)

    1. Yes. Heat oven to 400. Brush each roll with some olive oil. Bake for about 15 minutes.
